The canal camp is a working holiday. An enjoyable experience for anyone who enjoys being outdoors and meeting new people from different backgrounds. We welcome volunteers aged between 18 and 70 from all backgrounds, so why not give it a try. This year's project will be the construction of a boat house, slipway and landing stages on the dredged section of the summit at Dunsfold between Tickners Heath and Compasses Bridge crossings. This will enable the Trust to start a trip boat operation on a second length of canal. Canal camp volunteers will undertake a variety of tasks from scrub clearance to machine operation, concrete mixing to carpentry and bricklaying. Whether you are an experienced volunteer or new to it all you will be guided in your work by the camp leader or a suitably experienced volunteer. Our working day usually runs from 9 to 5, with plenty of tea breaks and lunch on site. Accommodation will be in Dunsfold village hall with showers on site and a good pub in close proximity. A cooked breakfast and a home cooked evening meal is provided each day. If you would like to attend the WACT Summer Camp, please use the Booking Form For further information please contact the Trust office.
