Brewhust Lock on Oct 4, 2006. The offside wall has been back-filled to coping stone level. Construction has started of the steps up to the original level of the tail gates.

Brewhurst lock on Oct 8 2006. The pipe for the back pumping has been laid (extreme left), a coping in the foreground has been cast and the formwork built for some of the remainder. The base and sides for the steps up to the higher (original) level can be seen in the background.

Brewhurst lock on Nov 1, 2006. The steps up to the higher level have been cast on both sides. Note the holes in the gates. In a 'normal' lock the water would flow over the top of the gates.

Brewhurst lock on Nov 9, 2006. The upper gates have been fitted. Note the addition of the walkway across the gates, which is unique to the Wey & Arun. The walkway should reduce the need to use the steps at the tail of the lock. The ground paddle winding gear has also been installed.
