Simon Carter the landowner at Devils Hole Lock, showing a picture by John Russell-Hayes to some of the volunteers. John is a local artist and long time supporter of the restoration of the Wey & Arun Canal. The picture shows Devil's Hole Lock as it was in year 2000 have been cleared of the masonry. You will recall it had been blown up by the Canadians. The lock itself is finished, but the final tidying up has been postponed whilst we have gone to Drungewick lock to do essential remedial work.
