SITUATIONS VACANT
NEW POST - HOSPITALITY MANAGER
A volunteer is needed to run the hospitality at events such as the AGM, Autumn
Meeting, VIP cruises on board Wiggonholt and major events such as when a lock or
bridge is being recommissioned.. It would involve obtaining supplies, including ordering food from the Onslow Arms, running a roster of volunteers and billing
the treasurer with invoices or receipts. The Manager would not be expected to
attend each event, but would be responsible to the Chairman that the hospitality
side of each event is being firmly gripped. For more information, without committing yourself, please contact Sally Schupke 01483 503029.
Boat Crew required.
Come and join the team helping to run our trip boats taking passengers along a restored section of the canal.
Your help is needed to work the boats, operate the locks and interface with the public. Essential ingredients are enthusiasm for the canal and the work of WACT plus half a day of your time per session. Full training and support given.
To find out more please contact Rosie Sugar, Boat Operations manager 01403752321 or Paul French, Crew Coordination Manager 01483 419346.
Twinning officer - Do you have any experience with your local town twinning process? If so, the Trust would like to hear from you because we would like to twin with another canal restoration project, possibly in Europe.
Boat rally organiser Do you have good admin skills? And some spare time with email facilities? In which case, please consider offering to organise one of our small boat rallies that take place each year. You don't need to take on ALL of them - just one will be a great help. The job involves collecting names and entry fees, making an entry list and sending out boat stickers, sending out confirmations and maps to everyone.
Local council liaison officer - Sounds grand and very much a post needed by WACT, especially in the northern end. Have you been a parish councillor or perhaps you go along to your parish council meetings regularly and would able to act as a WACT representative?
Local Public Relations Officers - I'm presently the public relations and press officer for the whole canal corridor which is fine, but it would be better if we had several, each being responsible for their nearest town or village.
If you would like to chat through any of the above and find out more of what is involved, please contact me. All enquiries will be kept strictly confidential.
Sally Schupke pr@weyandarun.co.uk or telephone 01483 503029.
