Notes for using Flickr

Everyone who has taken photographs of the Wey & Arun Canal is welcome to share them on the Flickr Group Pool. To share your pictures please do the following:-
  • Sign up to Flickr. You can do this here at www.flickr.com
  • Then do one or other of the following to share a photo with the group?

If you're a member of the group, add your photo to the group pool. (If not, join the group, because only group members can contribute to the group pool.)

You can join the group by going to www.flickr.com/groups/wact/ and clicking on the "Join This Group" below and to the right of the "Wey & Arun Canal Trust" heading.

The easiest way to add a photo to a group is to go to your photo's page and click the "Add to a Group" link in the actions menu. Then choose the group you want to add it to (The group name is "wact"), and you're done!

Only you and the group administrators can remove a photo from a group pool.

  • Wherever possible please caption your photos.
  • Please tag your photos. This enables the photos to be searched. So add key words such as " canal wey arun lock canoe " if the picture is of a canoe in a lock on the Wey & Arun.
  • Fill in the map showing the location where the picture was taken.
  • If you process the picture in some way such as by sizing or cropping, try to ensure that the metadata (EXIF data) is retained. This ensures that the date the picture was taken is displayed and also the make and model of the camera. The camera exposure details are also displayed for those interested.
  • Each Group member is allowed to add 10 new photos per month, so please be selective.
