In response to increased public demand for their boat trips, the Wey & Arun Canal Trust have reviewed their boat trip timetables for 2008. The first boat trips with the new times will start on Saturday, 5th April 2008 and will run until the Autumn. All boat trips depart from the jetty behind the Onslow Arms in Loxwood. A large (free) car park for canal visitors is available beyond the Onslow Arms car park. Earlier in 2008, the Trust's 30-seater narrowboat "Zachariah Keppel" was fitted with a new engine which is much quieter and will offer an even more peaceful cruising experience.
40-minute trips leave at 12.30 and 1.30pm on Saturdays and 12.30, 1.30 and 2.30pm on Sundays. These trips feature a passage through Brewhurst Lock. On Saturdays, the 'Enthusiasts Trip' leaves at 2.30pm and lasts 2 hours 45mins. This trip travels along the whole length of the restored section of the canal including 3 locks and Drungewick aqueduct, rebuilt in 2003. On Sundays, 'The Sunday Outing', leaves at 3.30pm for a trip of a 1 hour 20mins, passing through 2 locks and some pretty countryside.
It is advisable to reserve tickets in advance for the longer trips by telephoning the Trust office. Trips on public holidays follow the Sunday schedule.
Private charter bookings are also available - an ideal way to celebrate a birthday, a special occasion, or a corporate event. Private trips can be tailor-made and may use either the "Zachariah Keppel" (up to 30 passengers) or the "John Smallpeice" (up to 12 passengers).
